top 10 reasons i know i love my puppy.

1. i probably say "i wuv you wacco" at least 20 times a day. yes, in a baby voice. you know how it is. i think any girl that's ever accosted rocco in the street (and there have been many) reverts to the highest voice in their vocal range.
2. i don't get jealous by the other girls that give him attention, butonlybecausehelovesmethemost.
3. i'm okay with the fact that he left a shit stain on my pillow. true story, it happened when i came back from work today.
4. i skip the gym to be back that much earlier to be with my puppy. seriously. huuuge sacrifice. a sacrifice i've been willing to make consistently for the past two months.
5. for the most part, i always share my food with him. i couldn't say that about anyone/anything else in my life.. ever.
6. i make up excuses for the ('love') bites/scratches he gives me.. "what happened to your arm?" "oh, i walked into the door." "oh, again?" sad part is that the latter scenario is also entirely plausible and probably half true any given morning. if you didn't get the former part of this joke, then you are a good person or i make lame jokes.
7. he would be the first thing i grab from the apartment in case of an emergency. blackberry and macbook are second and third, respectively. yup, i would take him before my bb!
8. because he loves me! :)
9. and how do you not love the cutest puppy in the world?
10. umm i'm sure there's more.. buttt he's on my macbook and ready to play!

testing 1, 2, 3..

REVELATION!

i had been wondering why my pictures were coming out so pixelated when i uploaded them into blogger. of course, it was because they were compressing my 4000x6000px pictures into a tiny little 500x600px (i made up both those dimensions for reference). so yeah, duh, as if anyone needed any more evidence of my retardedness.

so here i am testing my appropriately-sized pictures:

they still came out a little weird, very hard around the edges.. but i'll figure it out later. going to READ a physical book finally, with dvorak's new world symphony playing in the background. i like to class it up sometimes.

and just for good measure:

how do say no that face? i don't. i can't. it's impossible. thankfully his puppy metabolism keeps up with the amount of food i feed him.

the rise and fall of mr. bee.

ever since i got my rocco, my friends have slowly been replaced with rocco's favorite toys. the toy du jour happens to be mr. bee since his favorite toys typically have a lifespan of one night. here is the story of the rise and fall of mr. bee re-interpreted as a really shitty children's story, aptly titled "the rise and fall of mr. bee". haaaa omg, i need to get out more.

1. once upon a time, rocco, the prince(ss) of the land, was bored was with all of his toys. his slave (me), never wanting to see him lonely or upset, ventured out to a neighboring kingdom, petropolis (real name of the store) to pick up some new toys to amuse him. tired of seeing him chew on dried tendons, i had to find something new.. something cuter.. and then, i saw mr. bee. dundundun! mr. bee is a stuffed animal that squeaks and has crinkly wings. i thought i had found the perfect new toy for my princess.

2. at first, rocco was wary of mr. bee. it squeaks! it crinkles! it's not easily chewed up! mr. bee, it seems, had already gotten the best of rocco.

3. i was not ready to give up this easily. i was still confident in my choice and determined to make sure that rocco enjoyed it. however, few things can replace rocco's favorite toy: the camera/my face. i was lying down on the ground to get some shots, which rendered me defenseless against this teething puppy. with mr. bee out of the picture, my face was his next target.. but not before he posed for a quick pic first! what a model, and his ears are finally up!

4. desperate to amuse him with something other than my mangled face, i gave rocco one of his ex-favorite toys, mr. pink tennis ball (ok, i am not too great with names). choices, choices.. what will he choose?!

5. wheeeeeeee, success!! funfunfun for everyone! the princess has been satisfied.

6. unfortunately, he was not amused for too long. hence this blurry shot.. didn't have any time to focus my shot (or for most of these for that matter).. had a crazy puppy coming at 579831mph ready to bite my face off.. lovingly, i'm sure.. butbecominglesssurebythesecond.

7. as with all of rocco's "favorite" toys, with the exception of my face and toes, mr. bee met his inevitable demise and was forsaken to some desolate corner in the apartment. some goodbye looks at mr. bee..

8. the defeated mr. bee, you served me well, for all of an hour, and that is all i can ask of you. thanks.

no one man should have all that power..

yup, another post dedicated to everyone's favorite subject: rocco! you can probably assume by the amount of posts dedicated to him that i am completely obssessed with him.. [basically whatever rocco wants, rocco gets (he learns from the best!)] he also looves getting his picture taken, and usually, he is the most adorable, photogenic puppy of all time, but sometimes.. he is what i like to refer to as crazy puppehhhh (still a cutie though, but i am obviously biased).

ps. hahaha, also cannot believe that people actually read my "highlights of my weekend" post. nice to know that my rambles are not completely incoherent, but nonetheless, here's a semi-legit post.

cupcakes, wine, and rocco.

this particular meal was five months in the making. it wasn't particularly epic or anything, but my friend and i just happen to have very "flexible" scheduling mentalities.. it's probably why we get along so well. i don't know what took me so long to make it here as it focuses on some of my favorite things in life: cupcakes and wine. apparently, this place was named as one of the "best cheap date spots" in nyc, which was very apparent by the fact that my friend and I were the only non-couple there. i thought this place would be a lot more gimmicky given its name, but it resembled more of a quaint cafe that just so happens to specialize in wine/beer and cupcake pairings. as a cupcake aficionado, i was initially overwhelmed by the wide variety of cupcakes they had to offer, but when i finally whittled down my choices to a few some ten minutes later, the waitress informed me that they only serve their four signature cupcakes daily and rotate their speciality cupcakes on a daily basis. i was mostly relieved but a little irked that i had spent some much time choosing a cupcake...s. naturally, given their wide-ranging cupcakes combinations, i ended up with the  craziest of all combinations: 'pure' (vanilla buttercream/vanilla cupcake) - i don't deal well with stress.

i'm glad i finally made it, and i can finally cross it off my never-ending list of places to try in nyc!

i haven't posted pictures of rocco in a while. he's going to be four months this friday! they grow up so fast!! these are some shots from the first week i got him.

i should rename and dedicate my blog to rocco.

seriously, he's one studly french bulldog who loves the camera. he is looking straight into the camera in 90% of the pictures i take of him. i think he knows how good-looking he is..

scenes from the weekend.

weekend checklist - 4.5/12 [1,2,4,11,12]. not bad? .5 for number 12 since i only finished listening to "the king of limbs", but i didn't get around to listening to much else. not sure what i think about the new album yet, but it's radiohead.. so, by virtue of that fact, it can't be bad. overall, pretty successful weekend since i managed to cross something off other than number 1 and ventured out of manhattan (i mean getting out of the apartment is a pretttty big deal for me, way bigger deal since i finally set up a seamless web account). biggest/only accomplishment? managing to get all the way to long island city for a truly delicious, memorable brunch at m. wells. not sure if a place like this could exist in the manhattan and retain its old school diner charm..

L to R: reservation notepad, diner countertop, brown sugar cubes, bench outdoors

roaming around LIC while waiting for a table

ok, no pictures of food because i was starving after waiting nearly an hour and a half for a table. just FYI, the brunch of gods includes: unlimited coffee for $1.50, fresh OJ, seafood cobbler (biscuits, bechamel, gruyere, and seafood), bone marrow and escargot, bleu cheese salad, beef tongue, steak tartare (raw filet mignon AND raw egg yolk - it was amazing), and a graceland cupcake just to end on a sweet note. then visited the 5 pointz graffiti wall and the MoMA PS1, which included some poignant photography/installation exhibits - although i spent half my time the museum digesting food rather than attempting to interpret the exhibits. obviously digesting a really heavy meal sucks the life out of you, so i pretty much thought my day was over after that. however, i made it all the way back to manhattan, perked up with a cappuccino at knave, picked up the cutest glitter flats at j.crew, trekked back down - allll the way down - to financial district and then made it out AGAIN to dinner in midtown. i know, crazy (italics necessary). convivio never disappoints me for a good meal, so i couldn't resist - but it was under heavy consideration. now that i think about it, my new glitter ballet flats (and a hermes tie-donning dinner date?) was probably the only reason i made it out the door.

cuuuuute, riiiiight? who wouldn't go out if you had a pair of those in your closet?!

so that was saturday. pretty productive i must say.

the rest of the weekend pretty much went downhill in terms of productivity from there and consisted of a lot, a lot of this:

sunday morning at kaffe 1668

maybe next weekend?

one last shameless picture of the cutest puppy ever. i attempted to take him on his first walk on sunday, but i just ended up holding him while i walked around the block because he was too scared, but it's okay because he's a diva just like his momma. :)
